FAITH BAPTIST COLLEGE, PORT HARCOURT

The College was established on 9th October, 2000 and located at # 2 Rumuoparaeli street old G. R. A., Port Harcourt. It was established firstly to fulfill the vision of the founding fathers and to meet the yearning need for a secondary level education within its immediate environment. The College started under the pioneering leadership of Mr. Ibioseya D. Amachree (now Rev Ibioseya D. Amachree), who was the first Principal.

On that 9th day of October, 2000, when the School started, there were thirteen (13) students. The teachers were sourced from the Faith Baptist Senior Primary school at the onset. By the second year of the school, it had its full time teachers among who included: Miss Pacify Wokoma, Mrs. Kine Berena, Mrs Mirana Osuagi, Miss Janice Isaiah, Miss Aleruchi Chuku, Miss Uche Nwafor.

From the small beginning, Faith Baptist College has grown in leaps and bounds. It has graduated nine (9) batches of students, the first batch being in July, 2006. The graduands are studying in local and international universities around the globe in various fields such as engineering, law, education, medicine, management science, humanities, sciences, etc. Some students have studied in universities in UK, Canada, US, Ukraine, Malaysia, etc. The school has won various laurels in different competitions, such as Schlumberger Mathematics & Science Quiz for secondary schools, Cowbell Mathematics Competition, Inter school debate among public and private senior secondary schools in Rivers State, Nigeria, organized by International Federation of Women Lawyers. The School also emerged champions in that competition.

In addition to attaining resounding academic successes, the College has expanded in facilities provisions for the enhancement of comprehensive education for students and all citizens aspiring for secondary school education. Facilities include: Science Laboratories for physics, chemistry and biological studies; others are home economics, creative arts, basic technology workshops, functional library, computer / ICT training room.

Similarly, the school has in its employ qualified skilled, competent, educated and highly motivated academic and non-academic staff, functioning at their optimum capacities. There is a School Management Board responsible for the policy frameworks on which the school is managed. Mr. Charles Akah is presently the Principal of the school. He is an educationist and a chattered manager of the Nigeria Institute of Management.
